How nutrient-dense is your diet? That depends on how your food was grown in the first place. Conventional agriculture and food production follows a fast downward spiral into empty calories. Farmers in the U.S. and Canada grow a lot of corn and soybeans. These are the fillers for most processed foods. Such “monoculture” creates extreme mineral deficiencies in the soil. Traditional methods of crop rotation did not do this.

Monoculture farming creates a vicious cycle of less and less healthy food. Every given crop has a certain mineral “fingerprint.” It draws on certain minerals from the soil out of proportion to the others. In effect, it strips the soil of what it needs most. This starves future generations of this crop of what they most need. The crop becomes weaker and less healthy over time. Weeds and pests start winning the war.

What’s conventional farming’s answer? Spray more pesticides and herbicides. The problem is that the crop is still weak. And now we, the end consumer, ingest all these toxins. We get less nutrition with  more toxicity. Alarm bells should start to ring when you see the large health price you’re paying for “cheap” food. We’ve failed to let nature’s pests do their job. That is, to alert us to weak, low-nutrition food.

How does this play out in practical terms? It takes a lot more food now to get the same nutritional value. You’d need 200 loaves of bread to match the nutrition of a single loaf at the turn of the last century. Likewise, you’d need 45 bowls of today’s spinach to be on par with one single bowl from yesteryear.

This same vicious cycle repeats itself in our inner ecology. Less nutrition means a weaker immune system. We use supplements and “fortified” foods to prop up our nutritional deficiencies. Like the weak crops, you may become susceptible to every bug going around the office. This is one of the reasons we find more and more people on regular rounds of antibiotics.

Traditional, organic methods of growing and crop rotation do the opposite. They actually “rejuvenate” the soil. The crops are in robust health as they draw on mineral-rich soil. Start with organic, nutrient-dense foods. This is how to build up your health from the inside out.

Build up your immune system to do what it does best. Drop synthetic supplements and ‘fortified’ food’. “Let food be thy medicine” is timeless advice. A foundation of solid nutrition cuts the need for antibiotics. Also note that you’ll find antibiotics in regular, non-organic milk.

As always in health, deal with the root issue rather than the symptoms. Supplements and ‘fortified’ foods are not dealing with the root. Are Your Hormones Marching To A Toxic Beat?

Hormones govern every natural function in your body. Natural fertility is no exception. I’m speaking equally to men and women, here. So that includes you, no matter which parts you have!  

The ill-effects of endocrine disrupters plague us all these days. We generally don’t realize the extent that our hormones are being messed with.

Think about what our modern world and diet includes. Current/past prescriptions (ie birth control pill); plastic bottles; metal food cans; detergents; flame retardants; soy-based foods; cosmetics; and pesticides. We usually don’t even give a second thought on the effects of all of this.

Studies show how much these elements are interfering with our natural fertility. Long-term, they are the cause of some cancers. Not to mention how they affect organ and neural systems in prenatal development.

There’s even much evidence showing that hormone disruptors leave genetic imprints. We’ve often seen drug traces in a patient for things their parents had exposure to. They respond to our detox protocol exactly as if they had taken the drug themselves. This includes all prescription drugs, as well as environmental toxins.

We had many “mystery” cases in our clinic before we understood this phenomenon. You’d be quite amazed at what crosses over the generational divide. Drugs, toxins, hormones, and even intense emotional states can pass down to you.

All this to say that there’s more to pH balance than diet and lifestyle. It’s not only your own prescription history that counts, but your parents’ as well. Solé Brine – Nature’s Perfect Mineral Supplement For Fertility

Mineral deficiency is rampant. Filling your plate with lots of fruits and vegetables isn’t enough these days. It takes a concerted effort to make sure you’re getting all your necessary minerals. Think of your bones as the superstructure of a building. Picture your tissues, organs, and skin all draped over it. Your job is to make sure that this building can stand for a good 100 years or so.

Most modern drinking water is depleted of minerals. We no longer gather our water from brooks or streams that have picked up minerals on the way to the glass.

Modern agriculture isn’t doing a good job with minerals, either. That’s because crops aren’t rotated, and farmland is under a chemical assault.

Ross Bishop states, “A 1999 study … found that three decades of the overuse of nitrogen in farming has destroyed the soil’s fertility, causing it to age the equivalent of 5,000 years in 30 … For the amount of manganese you used to get in 10 green beans you would have to eat 300. You have to eat 11 bowls of spinach to receive the same amount of copper that you used to get in one bowl. To receive the same amount of iron in one tomato prior to 1945, you would have to eat 1,938 tomatoes today.

Carrots used to have 10,000 IU of beta-carotene, now they have less that 70. Wheat used to be 40% protein, whereas now it is less than 10%. It goes on. . .”  

Even our bread is no longer stone-ground. We used to get minerals baked right into the whole grain goodness.

What does all this have to do with fertility?

Your fertility functions are “turned on” by vitamin and mineral signals. They’re the “green light” that tells nature there’s enough nutrition to support a new mouth to feed.

Synthetic mineral supplements are typically very poorly assimilated. We have a much better suggestion for you.

Use solé brine every morning. It contains 84 minerals and trace elements. It’s a whole superfood derived from a pristine, unpolluted place on earth.

solé (“So-lay”) is a supersaturated solution in water of Himalayan crystal salt. It’s liquid sunlight captured in a Mason Jar! “Sol” is the Latin word for “sun”.

A minerally-satisfied body doesn’t have food cravings.

It helps to cleanse tissues, muscles, organs and skin congestion. This leaves more resources available for procreation.

solé brine is easy to make at home. We make ours in a small to medium Mason jar. We use a plastic lid because a metal one would rust over time. Place 3-4 rock chunks in the jar, and cover with pure spring water or  filtered well water. Request them from your local health food store, if they don’t already stock them. Tap water with chlorine or fluoride is not recommended here, or at any time.

The goal is to create a supersaturated solution. You’ll know it is, if some amount of the salt chunk is still visible after 24 hours. This means that the water molecules are completely full of minerals. Your brine is now ready.

Take a dose of your brine every morning. Start on the low end, and work up. Your first dose can be one single drop dissolved in a glass of water. Drink this at least 15 minutes before breakfast. Increase your dose until you’re taking a full tablespoon in your water.

You can continue to top up the Mason jar with water as the level goes down. Keep an eye on the saturation – add more rocks as the visible salt chunks start to disappear over time. You’re literally “drinking” these rocks in slow motion.

Why Acidic pH May Not Be Due To Diet

“Why is my pH still acidic? I’ve cleaned up my diet, and I’m drinking plenty of water.”  What’s going on?

It’s frustrating when you “follow the rules,” but don’t get the intended result. We’ve been there!

At this point, some folks will simply “try harder,” while others “give up.” But neither approach solves the real problem. Sometimes, faulty regimen isn’t the problem.

We want to emphasize the importance of healthy pH habits. Don’t give them up out of frustration! They’re essential for fertility, and for lifelong health. Every bite counts! You can’t fool your biochemistry. What would throw your pH off, if not regimen?

Your pH isn’t affected by physical factors alone. Your state of mind and emotions play an equal role. The effect is sometimes quite powerful and dramatic. Not only does every bite count, but also every thought and emotion as well.

This is why holistic healthcare doesn’t consider the needs of your ‘mind’ and ‘body’ as two separate things. It’s nature’s original “two for one” deal. Both sides create your cellular pH. Even with a perfect diet, your pH can still be off due to mental/emotional factors.

What’s the current “state of mind” behind your conception attempts? Is hope starting to cloud over with feelings of “failure,” “frustration,” or even “grief?”? Your pH readings will follow suit. Your mind and body are very intimate and responsive dance partners.

Is there a deeper belief coloring your experience? Do you hold a definition of “success” for your life based on having certain achievements by a certain age? Beliefs frame how you experience and feel the events of your life. They remove us from direct “lived” experience into emotional “interpretations.” By definition, such a separation from life is stress. At the cellular level, you respond with shots of acidity.

Here’s the kicker – your cells have no sense of time. They don’t know the difference between current and past stressors. Your “cellular memory” keeps shocks and traumas from the past alive in your body. It may not be immediately obvious what’s causing your pH to read acidic.

Let’s take a dramatic example of this. Imagine a war vet suffering PTSD. Their nightmares, anxiety, and physical symptoms may be overwhelming. They are operating on cellular memories of wartime. Even after they are back “safe” at home. Their unresolved shocks and traumas are still living. This always continues at the cellular level, even if the mind has “forgotten.”

Are we suggesting you slap a big goofy grin on your face, only thinking happy thoughts? This doesn’t work, unless you’re a Disney character. Emotional health means living your emotions, not eliminating them. “Better out than in” is our motto for health at all levels.

The key is not to give up on your healthy pH diet. That will always be the foundation to your fertility health and beyond. Keep it up while you source out this other type of pH disruption. You need to address the needs of both your physical and emotional bodies.

Writing your “timeline” is a good first step to releasing your past. Write down a list of every emotional shock or life trauma you can remember. Patients have told us that even this exercise alone can provoke a healing response. In your emotional body, “feel” which ones continue to have a “charge” for you. You’ll start to get a sense of the “map” of healing you need to follow.

The Emotional Meaning of Food Cravings

What’s the difference between “desire” and “craving” for food? When it comes to fertility health, there’s a world of difference. Are you aware of what drives your food choices? Is any given food feeding your physical, or your emotional body?

Cravings override your body’s desire for healthy sustenance. They generally have an emotional root. Grief will seek carbs as well as salty snacks. Anger goes for sweets, fear wants coffee and guilt will eat almost anything to stuff down their shame. Have you heard of “retail therapy”? Well, this is ‘over the lips, past the gums’ therapy.

Nutritional deficiencies or imbalances will also lead to cravings. This is your body crying out for what’s missing in your diet. Such imbalances join forces with anything still unresolved in your emotional body. Your innate desire for healthy eating gets hijacked by these factors. Emotional cravings overshadow your instinct for healthy sustenance.

Unresolved content in your emotional body will create a specific “disease state”. This is a state of mind which overtakes your natural physiology. It also starts to take over your cellular function. The cravings overshadow your healthy desires. Your cells’ mineral needs get pushed aside in craving’s pursuit of emotional fulfilment.

A miscarriage, for example, will create the emotion of grief. This is a natural response, of course. It only becomes an issue if there’s a blockage to the complete “letting go” of natural grieving. In this case, residues of grief still remain in the cellular memory. It will also start to generate the emotions of fear or anxiety for possible future miscarriages.

This may turn into the personality trait of a “walled off” feeling. It stands as an emotional defense against any future hurt. The inability to cry, or even an aversion to intimacy may result from such a state. “I don’t want your sympathy” becomes the unconscious trait of this defense. No one is allowed “in”, in the emotional sense. Physiology follows suit, making sure that no sperm can make it all the way in, either.

Your cellular physiology is quick to respond to your state of mind. The natural mineral balance begins to reverse. The alkalizing potassium leaches out from the cells. They get filled instead with encrustations of sodium. Such a sodium-dominance is acid-forming. It creates a downward spiral. This emotional state reinforces the cellular physiology, and vice versa. The resulting salt or carb cravings can only offer temporary relief.

What if you recognize this pattern in yourself? For starters, “don’t panic”. The myth of “willpower” as a solution isn’t helpful. It’s a misunderstanding of the real issue, and an unnecessary source of shame. To begin to notice these patterns in yourself is an amazing first step. The more consciousness you can raise, the more you remove power from the true source.
