“Cough, hack, wheeze, cough …” It can start like this, or with a sore throat, or with a sniffling nose. No, it doesn’t show up in July, it comes right around December 21st just when your buying your free range turkey for the holidays. The telltale sign that Tuberculinum has you, or your family, in it’s grips with it’s gripe is that the fever will be high at about 103.8, with a sudden onset. It may be accompanied by sore throat, shivering, persistent headache deep in the forehead, yellow/green mucus from the nose, dizziness and significant constipation. The ears may be ringing with tinnitis and the pain will be acute with a sticking pain that radiates right down into the teeth.
Dr. John Henry Clarke, M.D. described the bronchial symptoms in depth as:

As you can see a lot of bronchitis, pneumonia and asthma can be wrongly diagnosed, prescribed antibiotics, just to come back the following year with a more virulent expression. Tuberculinum must be cured on the sound basis of natural law to be eradicated outright. My daughter’s riding coach used to suffer annually in precisely this way until we addressed it once and for all by using Heilkunst principles.
It is interesting to note that the patient always feels better up in the mountains in a pine or cedar forest as this helps to clear their lungs so that they can breath more easily. If you lived a few hundred years ago, when Tuberculosis was an even more prevalent infectious disease, you might be sent to a sanatorium up in the mountains in Europe in order to recuperate.
There is also another aspect to this Genetic Miasmic disease that produces chronic constant symptoms and that is “the state of mind.” They will be the type of person who is yearning; yearning to travel, yearning to fall in love, yearning for fulfilment in some way or another. The movie “Amelie” is a great rendering of a Tubercular state of mind. Also, your child may exhibit unusual bouts of rage, vindictiveness, and belligerence towards yourself and others while in a Tuberculinum state. In our Materia Medica, it is written that the child may break the mother’s favourite vase or other article of value right in front of her out of defiance.
ADHD-like symptoms are also frequently anchored to Tuberculinum. They can’t keep their mind on one subject for more than a few moments. They will drive their parents and educators crazy as they’re seemingly ill focussed in every sense imaginable, sabotaging every effort at a defined trajectory.
When Jeff Korentayer was speaking to his patients this week about some of the historical aspects regarding Tuberculinum he brought up the point the this disease was often referred to as “consumption” a couple hundred years ago. Interesting as the state of mind of the Tub. sufferer will often over consume, yearning for another gadget, article of clothing, cell phone or car. They’ve let go more of their spiritual nature and replaced it with many golden calves termed consumptive consumerism.
Of even further interest, Jeff describes how Tuberculinum was the prevalent disease at the turn of the 19th century when the industrial age set in. Think of London and all the coal burning, smog and fog. It was hard to breath, folks had a lot of lung-related afflictions. Also, moving into the city meant a profound separation, a definite cutting off from nature with a deep longing for open vistas and fresh air. This was also the dawn of the romantic period when humanity was longing to connect to her inner nature through art, poetry and romantic science.
This also happens to be the time when Dr. Samuel Hahnemann discovered the principles of Heilkunst, researching and writing about this romantic science in his groundbreaking book the “Organon Der Heilkunst” which literally means the “The Whole Medical Art.” In there he describes the physicians highest and only calling and the true participation of the nature of the patient, the state of mind in illness, true participatory discernment and the eradication of disease. He also defined the qualities for health as not only the eradication of symptoms, but that the healthy individual will avail themselves of their spiritual life’s purpose when whole and hale. Hahnemann moved countless times with his many children, sometimes more than once in a year which leads us to believe he might have needed the nosode himself.
In the clinical portion of my studies back in 2003, my mentor, Patty Smith told a story of serving patients in the States who also moved annually. It was a real bone of contention with their children. After giving them the Tubercular nosode, they never moved again, finally feeling satisfaction with their current domain and geography.
I also served a woman years ago in 2004 for chronic headaches. As per usual, we went through her sequential timeline and then started hitting each of her Genetic Miasms. When we hit Tub., her headaches completely dissipated. However, the other surprising part was that she also suddenly quit her very successful job as a head hunter, went to Paris, France and attended Cordon Bleu Chef School. She came back home to open her own cooking school. She’s felt utterly fulfilled in her work every since.

About 20 minutes of full sun exposure a day, on your bare skin, is all you really need to stay whole and healthy. Vitamin D is one of those elements that the body stopped producing as a function of our evolution. However, we still need vitamin D to build and maintain strong, healthy bone structure and teeth.
If you’re not able to be exposed to sun on a daily basis, it can affect not only your bone density, but also your state of mind and immune function. We’re light bearers, as the iron in our blood actually metabolizes light and needs a regular source to help us feel enthused and healthy about ourselves and our lives.
If we risk times of depletion, like winter months in a more northern or southern climate, then supplementation is wholly necessary. Vitamin C – helps regenerate healthy tissues and is high in antioxidants for promoting optimum immune function, prenatal, cardio, skin and ocular health. Every morning, our smoothies contain a teaspoon of Vitamin C powder.
Kindervital: This is an awesome supplement that I suggest for both children and the elderly. Due to the fact that it comes in a liquid, it is naturally more easily absorbed into the system promoting health in those that may have a greater challenge deriving it from whole, raw organic foods.
Homeopathic Tissue Salts – Schusseler’s Cell Salts are a homeopathic mineral supplement, in low dose, that helps to build healthy bones and tissues in children. They can help with teething simply by the breast-feeding mom taking them or dissolving one in water, or crushing one tablet into whatever your child is eating.
Probiotics – are stellar at keeping the gut flora at a healthy level in order to be able to fight off any flu bug or infection that may seek you out as a host. If I’ve eaten or drank something that doesn’t wholly agree with me, I’ll double up on my probiotic intake for that day and I feel much better knowing that I can combat any adversary that tries to take up residence in my gut.
Iodine – The body no longer produces its own iodine, but it still requires it for healthy thyroid function. Foods like dried seaweed and fish and seafood, particularly cod, contain high amounts of iodine and will help with fatigue and when weight loss is difficult. To ascertain if your iodine level is sufficient or not, paint a 1 inch patch on the inside of your arm before bed with external use iodine. If the patch is totally gone by morning, you may need to supplement with Lugol’s to bring your levels up to their normal function. Ask your Heilkunst Practitioner more about this at your next session. Also, selenium is a necessary co-factor to assimilate iodine, which you can get from a couple of Brazil nuts daily.
Zinc – is vital for healthy vision, hair, nails, skin, smell, appetite, healthy enzymatic activity and immune function. Zinc is the “happy” element that helps to calm and promote healthy levels of serotonin that keeps you feeling youthful. Zinc promotes wound healing, protein synthesis, blood sugar control, weight loss and protection against yeast infections. It also promotes mental alertness as well as sleep. Zinc is not stored by the body and is depleted by alcohol, sugar consumption or sweating with working out. You can easily test for zinc shortage by taking “The Zinc Challenge;” if the liquid tastes like water, you need zinc, if it tastes awful/medicinal, your levels are fine. Supplementation should be considered with no taste or somewhere in between.
Fermented Foods – Personally, I’m crazy about fermented foods, thinking of them as regular supplements and pure pleasure. I make our own raw goat’s milk kefir that goes into our shakes every day. I also make Kombucha which is fermented black tea and raw cane sugar, which get’s completely consumed by the resident “Scoby”, rendering a fizzy probiotic drink that easily replaces soda pop any day. I also make kosher salt fermented dill pickles which we all love. All raw fermented foods are considered “super-foods”, supplying high levels of orgone energy (the stuff of life), cultured nutrition and gut healthy flora.
Coconut Oil – The health benefits of coconut oil include stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, diabetes, HIV, cancer, dental care, and bone strength due to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc.
Calendula Cream with Neem – Calendula is a homeopathic remedy derived from pot marigold (calendula officinalis) and is a premier healative for cuts, diaper rashes and eczema. Neem is derived from the crushed seed of the Neem Tree and is high in Vitamin E and is also anti-microbial to promote healing. Rhus tox. derived from Poison Oak is also the homeopathic remedy we use for rashes or eczema where there is much itching.
Aloe Plant – I have a couple of aloe plants in my kitchen window in case of burns or scalds. Cantharis is also the homeopathic remedy for burns.
Nin Jiom Cough Syrup – On the rare occasion someone gets a cough or cold in our home, we’ve traditionally used Nin Jiom Cough Syrup and Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops. Eucalyptus essential oil (blended in a carrier oil) on the feet of your child can help, as well as a vaporizer, with natural mint essential oil added near the steam vents, in their their room at night if the air if dry.
Essential Oils – I love my essential oils and while I have a whole shelf full of them, I’ll elucidate on a couple of my favorites here. I’ve already promoted the use of eucalyptus and mint when any one of us is suffering with cold-like symptoms, cough, or even just feeling kind of down that day. I will put pure, natural mint oil in my water on my desk as it is a good pick-me up encouraging feelings of well-being in my clients. I use lavender on my feet at night or on my pillow to help me transition easily into sleep. Rose is a great essential oil for anyone who is suffering a loss, sadness or disappointment. Rubbed on the chest, it can do wonders. Balsam is one of my personal favorites as it reminds me of camping in the forest with my Dad when I was a kid. I find it so grounding, and calming and I will often rub it on my feet before settling into bed for the night. Keep in mind, most essential oils should be diluted into a carrier oil (olive oil is ideal) and not used full strength on the skin.
Bach Flower Remedy Kit (especially ‘Rescue Remedy’) – While we have access to hundreds of flower, tree, bush and sea essences world wide, ‘Rescue Remedy’ contains a few choice flower essences to help with shock or trauma in first aid situations by shifting the state of mind.
Impatiens: For those who act and think quickly, and have no patience for what they see as the slowness of others. They often prefer to work alone. Teaches empathy and understanding of and patience with others. We’ve found it very fast-acting in alleviating an impatient attitude and lowering stress.
Star of Bethlehem: For trauma and shock, whether experienced recently or in the past. Teaches the ability to recover from traumas and to integrate them into the present life.
Cherry Plum: For those who fear losing control of their thoughts and actions and doing things they know are bad for them or which they consider wrong. Teaches trust in one’s spontaneous wisdom and the courage to follow one’s path.
Rock Rose: For situations in which one experiences panic or terror.
Clematis: For those who find their lives unhappy and withdraw into fantasy worlds. They are ungrounded and indifferent to the details of everyday life. Teaches one to establish a bridge between the physical world and the world of ideas; may foster great creativity. Is also used to bring clarity and alertness to the present moment.*
Arnica and/or Traumeel Cream – is a great salve to use on contusions or just sore, bruised, tired muscles, ligament, tendon or joint pain. Because it contains Arnica, never use where there is open skin such as cuts or abrasions as it will cause it to fester. Calendula cream is more suited for that.

Arnica Montana for bruises
Rhus Tox for itchy, flaky rashes and joint pain

Chamomilla for fussy babies who may be teething

Bryonia and Natrum Mur. for headaches over the eyes
Homeoventalin for asthmatic symptoms
Tensor Supports: We are a family of athletes. My daughter rides horses competitively and my son is a Parkour aficionado. We have tensor supports for wrist, knee, ankle, and neck just for intermediary support in the face of strains.
Experience Bowel Cleanser – On occasion, it is prudent to cleanse the bowels with trusted herbal tinctures or to actually have a colonic with a trained professional, due to the fact that there can be 5-7 lbs of accumulated toxins in the colon that need to be cleansed from the body, especially if qualifying yourself for detox. Clove Bud Oil – Over-the-counter teething gels are not FDA approved and can numb a baby’s gums and throat, potentially affecting breathing and swallowing. Clove Bud Oil works just as well to numb the area. See Mommypotamus’ full recipe here (do not use clove oil full strength on the gums).

Salt has always had a high value for our health and as a commodity. In the ancient world Roman soldiers received their wages in salt. The Greeks considered salt to be an essence of the Divine. At one time Mosaic Law required that all offerings to God presented by the Israelites contain some form of salt (Lev.2:13). When Jesus spoke to his disciples letting them know that they were “the salt of the earth,” they understood it to mean that they were very high in value. While the universal importance of salt is now cloaked in hearsay and allopathic mystique, we know that individuals advised to go on a low sodium diet suffer greater risks of heart disease and diabetes. All iodized salt should be banned outright as it is completely stripped of minerals and actually harmful to our health. It is time to build the true value of salt back into our diets and here is the why and how of it!
Solé Brine (pronounced So-lay)
Did you know that most folks are deplete in minerals? If you think of your bones, like the superstructure of a building with all the tissues, organs and skin draped over it, you want to make sure that this scaffolding is supporting you for about 100 years or so. The reason we’re deplete is because most of us don’t drink water from brooks or streams that have picked up minerals on the way to your hand pump in the yard for almost 100 years. The other reason is that our foods are also bereft of proper minerals required by our bodies, given that our soils are stripped. Ross Bishop states, “A 1999 study from the University of Wisconsin found that three decades of the overuse of nitrogen in farming has destroyed the soil’s fertility, causing it to age the equivalent of 5,000 years in 30 … For the amount of manganese you used to get in 10 green beans you would have to eat 300. You have to eat 11 bowls of spinach to receive the same amount of copper that you used to get in one bowl. To receive the same amount of iron in one tomato prior to 1945, you would have to eat 1,938 tomatoes today. Carrots used to have 10,000 IU of beta-carotene, now they have less that 70. Wheat used to be 40% protein, whereas now it is less that 10%. It goes on. . .” Even our bread is no longer stone ground, where minerals used to be baked right into whole grain goodness.
What is a modern person supposed to do? Well, we can supplement 84 minerals from a whole super food from a place on earth that still does not have any recorded pollution of any kind. In a dark field microscope analysis done on 3 groups of individuals in December 2002 and January 2003, it was observed that the solution created some amazing alterations to the blood as you can see below. The simple test entailed taking a drop of blood from a person and analyzing it, then feeding a teaspoon of brine solution with a glass of water to this person, and 30 minutes later, repeating the blood test.

After 24 hours, the positive ions from the mineral rocks surround the negative ions of the molecules of water and then alternatively the negative ions of the salt surround the positive ions of the water molecules in a polaric dance, resulting in hydrolysis (a chemical reaction in which a compound reacts with water to produce other compounds).

The Recipe For Making Solé Brine Solution
We make ours in a small to medium mason jar with a plastic lid (the metal lid will rust over time). Place 3-4 rock chunks (Health Food Stores can order in, or you can buy them right off of the internet) in the jar, and cover with pure spring water or properly filtered well water. Tap water with chlorine or fluoride is not recommended in any form. To obtain a supersaturated solution, add enough salt that some of the solid chunk remains, unable to melt anymore. At this point, you’ll know that the the liquid hasn’t any molecular capacity to absorb anymore of the salt within a 24 hour period. Your brine is now ready. Start with one drop in a cup of water first thing in the morning at least 15 minutes before you have breakfast. As the salt diminishes, you can add more salt rock and top up with water.
Brushing Your Teeth:

Sore Throat Gargle:

Sinus congestion can be helped immensely by running brine solution through them. Just prepare the brine as you normally would to drink, fill your neti pot and run through your sinus cavities.
The Brine Bath:
I use a brine bath for any kind of skin affection, bug bites, joint or muscle pain. I exercise about an hour six days a week and I use my baths to relax, help strengthen my immune function and detoxify. In order to maximize the effect of the therapeutic salt bath, you need to ensure you have the right concentration of salt to water in order to obtain the maximum osmotic exchange. For about 100-200 litres (27-32 gallons), at least 1kg (2.2 lbs.) of natural salt is required. Also, the bath’s temperature should be as close to 37 degrees (97 degrees Fahrenheit) as possible. Plan to stay immersed in the bath for about 20-30 minutes. During this time, the body will reach the same salt concentration both inside and out, a primal prenatal state liken to before birth.

Due to the sodium chloride content, similar to a type of naturally safe chlorine, folks can use a hot-tub, pool, or even tub-bath that uses natural salt and be assured of it’s disinfecting properties. EMR Labs, LLC recommends that detox brine baths are typically the most beneficial at the shift in moon phases, at the new moon, or at full moon, for optimal release of toxicity.
Brine Steam Inhalation for Asthma or Bronchitis:
Before Heilkunst Medicine, my son suffered repeated respiratory tract issues. Asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, and ear infections plagued him during his young years. During the winter months, when he was most affected, he was often seen kneeling on the floor in the kitchen over a hot pot of water with dissolved salt in it. The solution requires about 10% salt per water volume and you can drape a cotton t-towel over the sufferers head for 10-30 minutes depending on the severity of the infection. The longer period is required for the brine to capture and bind to the poisonous deposits in the lungs helping to produce a productive mucus that will be coughed to the surface to be excreted depending on the health of the individual.
Arthritis and Gout:
Treat the underlying cause using the principles of Heilkunst Medicine. I wish I’d known this when I cared for an ailing uncle who had gout/diabetic feet with open sores, about 30 years ago. Internally, follow the general directions above for ingesting Solé brine daily on an empty stomach. Be sure to drink between 2-3 litres of water a day (2 to 3 quarts) over the course of the day to create a tide to wash away the mineralization and uric acid associated with arthritis and gout suffering. You can also soak a cloth in pure brine solution (about 26%) and make a cold poultice, applying it to the infected areas. It will sting, but it will work. Wrap in a dry cloth to keep clean.
Treat the underlying cause using the principles of Heilkunst Medicine. Use the same general recipe above for Solé taking up to 1 tsp. in fresh spring water. Be sure to drink 2-3 litres (2-3 quarts) of fresh spring water every day in order to create a tidal bore in the body, washing the inappropriate mineralized debris from the body. You can also make a warm poultice with a concentration of the brine (at least 10%) and ½ oz of salt for every 4 oz of water. As well, you can fill a cotton or linen bag with salt chunks and heat in the oven to 125-140 degrees F. Remove the bag and apply it to your aching back, joints or bathe with them. Water at body temperature (around 97 degrees F.) is perfect for this bath.
A poultice made of brine (brine poultice) – When dealing with a scrape or small open wound, dilute a ½ ounce of crystal salt into a ½ cup of water. If you use too much salt, it will cause a disagreeable burning sensation. Be sure to use only non-carbonated mineral water from a purified source to treat any open wounds. Use a sterile gauze, soak it in the brine solution, squeeze some of the excess water from it and apply to the wound. Wrap a dry cloth around while also taking some Calendula, either topically as a salve or orally homeopathically, and prepare to be amazed at the power of your healing.
De-tox, Flu and Fever Relief:
The idea behind these conditions is to promote sweating.
Dip a clean cotton shirt in a 3% brine solution – 2 Tbsp. (60 ml) of crystal salt diluted in 1 Quart (1 liter) of water. Soak the shirt thoroughly and put it on. Cover (wrap) yourself in a dry towel and lay in bed (covered with your blanket.) After about half an hour you will start sweating. You can support the effect by drinking a cup of Linden blossom tea. Stay in bed for 60 to 90 minutes. Take off your shirt and shower. Lie down for one hour to rest. This procedure is an excellent detoxification tool and activates the metabolism. The brine shirt shows excellent results with high temperature viral conditions. In such cases, it is better than the brine bath.”
Brine Soaked Socks – This procedure has a similar effect as the shirt but is especially helpful when you suffer from cold feet and gout. Soak a pair of clean cotton socks in a 3-5% brine solution – 2 to 4 Tbsp. of crystal salt diluted in 1 Quart of water. Wring the sock thoroughly and put them on. Wrap your feet in a dry towel. At this time of the year when we start to enter the latter phase of the fall (at least in the Northern hemisphere), our life force begins to resonate with and potentially manifest the symptoms and state of mind of the chronic miasm of malaria. All miasms originate in an infectious disease, which may also become a genetic pattern that passes from one generation to the next. The characteristics of malaria are a hybrid between Psora and Tuberculosis, which are the miasms related to the early fall and early winter respectively.
Starting with the classic symptoms of a primary malarial infection, we see generalized aches and pains, weakness, and a number of gastrointestinal disturbances including diarrhea or vomiting. This symptom picture is partly reminiscent of the overall disturbance of the psora miasm, which also lies predominantly at the functional or more surface level. There is somewhat more intensity to the feeling in malaria, and it is a foreshadowing of the following miasm (tuberculosis) which displays quite a bit more charge than psora.
The state of mind of malaria is one of irritability, and to an even greater degree than in psora. It also surpasses psora in its degree of fatigue, as well as pessimism. The core feeling in malaria is of being victimized, which departs from psora’s feeling of simply not having enough (energy, time, money, etc.). In the classic infection of malaria, the typical carrier is the mosquito, and if you think of any time you’ve ever felt ‘bugged’ or even ‘victimized’ by mosquitos, then you will start to have a sense of this feeling in the malaria miasm. Malaria may feel overly sensitive, either physically or emotionally, and that their environment is hostile towards them. Both psora and malaria are diseases which primarily affect the warmth organism, and the patient suffering from these miasms will typically be very chilly.

Are vaccines safe and effective? Is vaccination an informed choice? Where do we find information to know the warning signs of a vaccine reaction and risks?
The safety and efficacy of vaccinations is a controversial topic. Depending on who you talk to they are either praised and celebrated for wiping out epidemics or blamed for vaccination reactions and disabilities. Where is the truth in these extreme ranges of opinions? Which vaccinations carry the most risk? Why would the public challenge vaccination? Who ultimately benefits?

Our intention in this segment is simply to illustrate that vaccination is with the most health conscious parents an informed choice and to share with you the resources, information and options.
Following the cycle of chronic miasms in terms of the seasons of the year, we now come back around to the original chronic miasm which is linked to the Autumnal Equinox. Psora, which comes from the same root word as ‘psoriasis’, is the beginning of treating the complete cycle of eight chronic miasms. There are eight, as there are two per season. This first miasm in treatment corresponds to the oldest, or original chronic miasm in human history. As such, you can imagine that it’s symptoms relate back to an original loss of health, and the beginnings of a weakened immune system.
The symptom picture of Psora is related to our most superficial organs or functions. The skin is primarily affected, with all forms of rashes or general conditions such as eczema. Other outer aspects of our immune system are affected, as we see in cases of simple head colds or coughs — irritation of the mucous membranes and other first defences of the immune system are included here.
All Psora symptoms are related fundamentally to an underlying condition of dehydration and dryness at all levels — dryness of our cells and their basic functions impaired; also dryness of our minds, in terms of our modern predominance of intellect over feeling. Also, the fundamental state of mind of Psora relates to this theme of dryness, in that the theme is of ‘lack’ — lack of energy, lack of time, lack of money, or lack of love, etc. If you observe the frantic energy of animals in the fall as they are gathering their food stores for the winter, you’ll see an example of this feeling of lack, and behaviour based on fear for future survival.
Many issues presenting at the clinic level have at least some root back into this miasm. Many complaints of a lack of energy, as well as constant catching of colds will be related. Seasonal allergies related to the fall are very much rooted in this miasm. In fact, my own lifelong suffering of hay fever was completely eliminated when I was treated for this miasm. Physically, the patient suffering from Psora will tend to be quite chilly, and have a hard time warming up. The classic expression of this in the old materia medicas referrered to those who wear their fur hats in the middle of the summer. Along with the skin symptoms comes much itchiness, especially driving the patient mad when they get into bed. With or without itchiness, there may still be a lot of restless sleep.
Mentally and emotionally, Psora is characterized by much anxiety and restlessness. More deeply, a feeling of having been forsaken may become apparent.
‘Pleomorphism’, which literally translates to mean ‘many forms’ is the antidote to the misguided medical approach that was born along with the ‘germ theory’. As Wilhelm Reich would say, “I am trying to convince the serious reader that principles of thought do not represent a philosophical luxury, but that on the contrary they decide questions of life and death, health and disease for humanity”. So, what is wrong with the germ theory, and how is it ‘fixed’ by pleomorphism?
Without going deeply into the technical details, I’d like to start simply by presenting the key concepts which can be taken from this historical debate. The basic idea of the germ theory is that when pathogenic germs which are outside of us manage to get past our immune defences, then we have become “infected”. Furthermore, that when studying a given germ, it always remains the same in terms of its identity and structure.
The much more carefully conducted observations of pleomorphic scientists observed something radically different : that a given germ which is inside of us, will change its structure and identity in response to changes in our inner environment. In other words, if we go from a happy state to a stressed state, a harmless germ inside of us may adapt by becoming pathogenic.
The big shift in thinking around pleomorphism, essentially puts the locus of health within the responsibility of the individual, and what they do for their physical and emotional health to keep their inner terrain in an optimal condition. This is very different from the philosophy of conventional medicine which focusses almost exclusively on a war-like mode of attacking any potential “foreign” invader from getting inside of you, or worse, if it has got inside, then your body becomes the battle ground for the chemical warfare of pharmaceutical drugs, and suffers much “collateral damage” in the process.
To be clear, there are extreme life-and-death situations where a suppressive medical approach, including the use of antibiotics, for example, is temporarily necessary to make sure the life and limb are preserved. But this situation occurs much less often than you would think by the number of prescriptions written for antibiotics.
Likewise, the philosophy of vaccination works on the same premise — that a strong effort must be poured into building up specific immunity, in an attempt to keep certain infections from ever breaching the borders of our immune system. The problem with the method of vaccination (but not its concept) is that it creates an incredible weakening of the general immune system, which is precisely what you need to help keep you healthy in the face of any pathogen, and not just the handful that you’ve been vaccinated for.
The suppressive effect of antibiotics, given the understanding that pathogens change form to match the condition of their host environment, actually prevents your body from using its own inner defences, and creates a state of toxic build up, and pathogenic forms which lay latent in your system, rather than coming to their own cycle of resolution through the natural pleomorphic stages which lead back to a healthy form.
Mix all of these concepts together with the base Heilkunst concept of disease, which understands the unique “state of mind” for each, and then this pleomorphic understanding of germs becomes even clearer, in terms of understanding how a given pathogenic cycle is governed by this given state of mind. Also, the resolution of the pleomorphic germ cycle is brought to completion when the correct remedy or remedies are given to the patient.

The thoracic (or chest) segment is a big crossroads in our system, where many of the processes of our upper self meet and mingle with those of our nether self. In Anthroposophical terms, this is the home of our rhythmic system, which is the mediator between our nerve-sense and metabolic-limb systems. If you think of the top listed causes of death, you’ll see that both the heart and lungs seem to take the brunt of life’s stressors, and can be the first to go.
When looking at the thoracic segment from a more strictly orgonomic perspective, it is important to note up front that one of the primary mechanisms in armoring is what Reich called the “chronic inspiratory attitude”. The chest, and more specifically, the lungs are the seat of this defunct breathing pattern which many people don’t even notice that they fall into continually.
Some other physical indicators of an armored chest segment can include a posture of hunching over, as if in protection of the vulnerable heart and emotions. Conversely, there can be the opposite form of defense, which is a compensated posture showing over-confidence. More severe breathing difficulties, such as asthma-like conditions are also included here. The patient, themselves, may report a feeling or sensation of heaviness in their heart, or it may be observed by their general attitude in life. Any suppressed sobbing is stored in this segment. (Whereas suppressed tears are more related to the ocular segment, for example, and the root of sinus headaches).
The thoracic cavity is also directly connected with the arms, and with all of the emotional actions they take, such as reaching out (as in the feeling of ‘longing’), or the opposite gesture of punching in anger.
The modalities of treatment will vary with the needs in the moment of the patient, and may include : punching a pillow or punching bag; reaching out towards an imagined object or person of desire; breathing exercises, working towards a full and deep respiration; the homeopathic remedy aurum to release the feeling of heaviness in the heart; pressing on the patient’s chest to help them fully exhale while breathing.
