Stress is feeling impotent to execute a plan or desire. It is the ultimate in feeling thwarted against the capacity to discharge an expectation into a state of realization. In health, it feels like, “Ah, I did it! I put the effort in and there it is, a big beautiful bouncing baby project, isn’t she lovely?! I’m so proud! Now I can finally bask in the glory of utter fulfillment!” As a healthy person, I will have perfect trust and faith that my effort will ultimately lead to fulfillment of a desire; it is just a matter of time and it will. I can trust in my healthy will and wisdom to get me to this state of full actualization. Right?!
However, if your history with stress indicates that the arrival point never seems to come to fruition, it’s outside your reach, some insidious force seems to pervade that sabotages the whole damn thing, leaving you feeling like a bloody failure. This cyclical pattern is just playing itself out yet AGAIN!! Guilt, victimization, and self-hatred mounts and you do your very best not to take it out on those you love. It is so hard, though, as the frustration seems to leak from your nostrils and ears. You feel yourself seething with it below decks.
Also, you notice that weird things are starting to occur in your body; you haven’t slept through the night in months, your hair may be falling out in the shower, you’ve been having mild gallbladder attacks or kidney stones , your sex drive is dried up and mostly gone, you’re suffering heartburn, and your craving for sweets is off the charts, you’re peeing like a racehorse way too frequently. What the heck is going on?
You feel the anger and frustration mounting. Perhaps it is a pattern around finances, the full realization of one’s inner value in the external ambient. Perhaps your inner milieu wants that juicy job sailing tourists around the world, but for now you’re stuck as a palliative care nurse (true story, btw). The prevailing feeling being that you trained for that job and you’re resigned to remaining at it until you can magically conjure the readies to make the transition. Perhaps you’re still living out of your parents’ expectations. On paper, though, it feels like you may never garner the gumption or resources to make the leap. For now, your feet are stuck in cement. Argghhhhhh!
Although you have the pictures of sailboats plastered to your walls at home, it still feels like a far-off pipe dream. What about all those affirmations, “I am sailing the world, I feel the ocean breeze on my face, I am cutting the jib!” And then, the reality of waking at winter’s dawn to catch the bus in the dark and cold invades your spirit with the most brutal of realities. You feel raw, sore, and jagged inside. What happened to that wee kid in you that used to race with the wind on your bike, build forts, and dream about becoming a rock star?!
You ask yourself, over and over again, what am I missing? How come everyone else seems to be realizing their dreams, but I can’t seem to get past token actions of having bought the organic sunscreen? Am I not deserving enough? Haven’t I done my time? When is it my turn to fully actualize my essential self and my dreams? Does this sound familiar to you? Are you tired of hearing the tirades of angst in your head?
We’ve got you! We lived this matrix prior as well. We know that stress is the #2 killer (just after allopathic drugs) in North America. We’re going to help you get out of the pain and suffering that has you secretly rocking back and forth, sucking on your thumb in that broom closet or bathroom stall when you think no one’s looking. We see you and we also have the tools to help.
There are 3 jurisdictions of Heilkunst Medicine. The first is Regimen (nutrition, hydration, dormition, recreation, coition). Basically, you must stop messing around! Cut out the refined sugars and carbs, and eat more for your blood type. This is really critical. We have other blogs (3 Streams in Heilkunst) on why this is, so go read those if you need further justification. Start drinking 2.5 – 3 litres of pure spring water per day (ABC’s of Healthy Regimen).
Start exercising for your blood type (Exercise for my Blood Type) and playing at a sport you love. I’m a “B” blood type and I love weekly hikes up into the hills where I live, yoga several times per week, and my meditation practice. Also, start winding down earlier in the evening, reading that self-help book or perhaps a novel about 45-50 minutes before bedtime and lights out. It is really important that you kill the lights and computer stimulation so that your autonomic nervous system can depart gracefully into sleep.
Sex is brilliant! If you’re not thusly conjoint with a resonant beloved partner, sex on your own is pretty delicious too. Love on yourself in the same way, using the same gestures that you would have your supreme lover engage with you. The idea being that you can’t wholly plumb love in your ambient until you’ve nailed down those delicious romantic gestures from inside. Love and romance is fostered from the inside out.
Also, the crazy thing is that while fever invokes a healthy immune function in a child, sex actually is the healthy expression of rage, anger, and stress in an adult. The more you teach your body, through pleasure, how to feel tension, charge, discharge, and then relaxation in its cells and the autonomic nervous system, the more it will recall this same gesture in everyday life. If you’re having trouble, though, executing through intimacy we can help with character analysis and resonant remediation.
The second jurisdiction of Heilkunst Medicine, is medicine proper. It’s peeling back the timeline onion of your stress-riddled adulthood, which no doubt stemmed from how you were raised as a child (Sigmunda would agree). In many cases, it is also anchored in your childhood, the genetic miasms, chthonic fears and ideogenic beliefs. It can take a bit of time, in conjunction with pathic remedies like lycopodium (key rx for impotence), aurum metallicum (working with little reward), sepia (‘if someone asks me for one more thing …’), staphysagria (repeated patterns of victimization), lachesis (guilt, resentment, shame) and ignatia (long term grief and disappointment).
We also employ brilliant flower essences like cherry plum (where your back is seemingly against the proverbial wall), white chestnut (for you cycling through the same old patterns over and over again), larch (for a lack of confidence), etc.
The third jurisdiction is therapeutic education, or Anthroposophical (study of man) Orgonomy (addressing armour/beliefs). This is the area where we help you to stop reinfecting yourself with the old states of mind that no longer serve you. This occurs more in tandem, or after, the diseases are mostly cured and your timeline resolved. Going after your character structure for why you felt you needed to live feeling thwarted and impotent in the first place is part of an illusion of belief. Poverty consciousness (not just about money) is, after all just a state of mind, albeit a powerful one. It can be cured just like the others.
Start, perhaps, by taking a look, at the following resources and see how they impact on you:

Conscious creation plays a very big part in replacing the subconscious program of feeling victimized by stress-filled circumstances. You are ordained with the capacity to self-rescue yourself from the habitual armouring, perpetuating chronic beliefs that you’re not enough. It is not about more doing or effort! It IS about having the health to identify where you’re wrong thinking patterns exist and having a deep desire to change them.
The final frontier of Heilkunst Medicine (or Romantic Science), the complete medical system, is the realm of using your very own God-imbued wisdom to excavate you from your mired beliefs. This is not the illusory or superficial “law of attraction,” although the gesture came from same roots, with medicine and regimen, you can more permanently exact the life that you’ve always wanted for yourself by “BEING” the answer you want to “BE” in the world starting now, right this minute, impressing this new data onto your subconscious and employing it as the change agent on your behalf. Your ambient will buck up to this new expectation, it is the LAW of RESONANCE. The thing is, do you have to strengthen your muscles of FAITH to hold the charge? Are you ready?
My new book, soon to be released on Amazon, speaks more liberally to this process:
Diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Cerebral Palsy and Fibromyalgia can be very difficult to treat! Patients who’ve lost sensation in their bodies have a great deal of emotional armouring. This means that they’ve pretty much kinked the hose to their own feelings, functions and sensations with regards to the content withheld in their musculature for fear of the natural dredging process. Subconsciously, they’ve become so savvy at keeping the composition of their emotional and physical pain at bay that they’ve literally walled themselves off to it.
I know, because when I came to Heilkunst Medicine I suffered with Fibromyalgia myself. I was successfully armoured and I did not trust myself to open the pandora’s box of my own past and so I shut down the feeling of all pain, and also all pleasure. All of these conditions are pathic (pathology) expressions of the tonic (root cause) disease Syphilis. For more on this underlying phenomenon see our blog on panic disorders.
They’ve lost, not only their human connection with others which causes them to live from not only a place of detachment, but criticism, hate, blame and a distrust so primordial, that they see no shifts in their condition; no matter how subtle or even how great. It is the ultimate in a lack of consciousness; especially self-consciousness. They can’t easily feel sensations, physical or emotional.
I’ll give you a perfect example. Years ago, I’d treated an MS patient who was bed-ridden. When she came to work with me by phone, she only had the use of her right hand. The problem was that not only had she lost her viability and motility, but she had always used both of her hands to engage with her craft. Like me, she loved writing and editing (details have been changed to protect her identity) Also, like me, her childhood was an exhibition of Syphilis-related occurrences with little or no acknowledgement of her essential self or her unique gifts. Her parents literally cancelled her out and inserted their desire program for her over her proper individuation. This is a common theme in Fibro., CP., MS and Parkinson’s too.
Many of these patients were entirely disregarded as individuals, their own true desire program negated. As a result, they forgot how to truly feel sensation and also emotion. In some cases, parents of these children pushed their feelings onto the child, like stipulating that they go to their room until they can act more happily or appropriately in their view. Sadly, I’ve seen many of these cases where the individual was never permitted to express any true emotions except a forced illusion of contentment. The colour of their real character leached from their lives.
What happens, then is that the individual never learns how to notice changes in her own body; natural feelings, functions or sensations get replaced with undischarged content that is still stored up in her physical body. We call this undesirable state, “successfully armoured.” You’ll know when you’re in their midst as they will express a deep fear of any kind of change from the onset. They will fear taking the remedies, they will fear the untapped emotions taking them by surprise, they’ll fear that no will like them any more and they will fear recognizing themselves. This is the armouring talking in an effort to preserve the status quo.
The successfully armoured patient will have walled herself off from human connection putting on that false “happy face.” You’ll see how she’s kinked her own hose to be sure that no true feelings of anger course through her body in order to spare the others in her midst from her perceived down-right dirty hatred. You will also see how this has affected her quality of life by keeping her separate from humanity and true intimacy with herself and others.
Did you know that losing yourself to your anger is the same gesture that follows the same release pattern for the orgasm function? It’s the same tripping of the lights fantastic. I can’t successfully let go to one impulse, knowing I’ll come back on grid in one piece, if I can’t let go to the other. An individual can’t know the full breadth of love unless they also know the full depths of their hate. Folks who are successfully armoured can’t let go effectively to true orgastic potency.
This, of course, was a defence mechanism. Dr. Wilhelm Reich in his book, Character Analysis, would term this “orgasm anxiety.” When a patient is successfully armoured, they deem all changes, including good ones, as a threat. Just as I was, I’ve served patients who were terrified of life flowing and pulsating through their bodies, so they subconsciously shut down any possibility of that happening.
The MS, Fibro., CP, and Parkinson’s patient secretly commits to cutting off the supply of nourishment, oxygen and normal functioning to their metabolic limb system first and then, over time, their limbic system second. The limbic is a complex system of nerves and networks in the brain, involving several areas near the edge of the cortex concerned with instinct and mood. It controls the basic emotions (fear, pleasure, anger) and drives (hunger, sex, dominance, care of offspring). They’re literally snuffing out their own rage but the cost is that they end up entombing themselves in their own self-hatred. Down goes the grid on their normal biological functioning along with a goodly chunk of healthy feeling and intimacy along with it.
It is very interesting to me that at the first follow-up consultation, the patient suffering this particular matrix will cite, “< nothing has changed since the initial consultation.” (I quietly smile to myself as I too said this once to my own Heilkunst Practitioner. If I gave credence to this statement every time I’ve heard it, I would have given up my practice years ago.) As is typical, I will go through the typical line of questioning around food, water, symptoms, etc. When we poke around in the details, I discover that about 20-60% of their issues are resolved.
On many occasion, it will be something like, “headaches more dull and in the morning now” whereas my prior notes indicated,” throbbing like hammers all day.” Other symptom resolutions can show up as, “waking 2-3 times per night” whereas prior, “waking 5-6 times per night having to get up and pee.” It is very common for shifts to be this subtle. It’s a bit like trying to watch a pot boil on the stove. Over the course of the 28 day healing cycle, we’ll always find subtle changes.
On many cases notes, I’ve made the accurate note, “> sx improved 60%!” (sx is our shorthand for “symptoms” or “suffering” next to the better than symbol). When I feed this rate of improvement back to the patient, they’ll typically say something like, “Oh that is just due to the allopathic medication that I’ve been taking.” They’ll typically have been on the same chemical drugs for years.
In one case, I had an MS patient relay a conversation she’d had with one of her physical therapists and how she wanted to show her the lack of circulation in her legs, but when she goes to show her, her legs are significantly improved! The colour had dramatically shifted from “purple” to a more normal tone. She admitted that this might have something to do with Heilkunst treatment as this has never happened spontaneously before. Again, I’m smiling silently at the other end of the phone while very quickly trying to capture as much as I can of her case details for my notes as I know that there will be others.
In another case, the shifts were more emotional. I had another wheelchair ridden patient with MS who cited a significant occurrence that first month was that for the first time in her life a family member had come to visit that month and even though they always previously spoke of current events and the weather, quite suddenly he acknowledged how difficult it must have been for her to be diagnosed and then live day to day with MS. He even stated, that he might not be strong enough to even live like this himself. For the first time in her life, she felt at least confirmed by a family member.
At this moment, in this woman’s case, I’m thinking of the remedies in her “Emotional Support Dropper” for inner value and the fact that we’d just cleared the first event on her timeline. It had to do with a male, in a position of authority, that had significantly invalidated her. Unfortunately, the patient doesn’t always equate an occurrence of this nature as an inherent part of Heilkunst medicine treatment and will chock it up as a coincidence.
While, typically, the patient’s issues will improve incrementally over time and they will become more and more self-educated for what to look for. In yet another patient’s case, years ago, I recall another partially paralyzed patient stating just before we were about to hang up, “By the way,” she said, “My physiotherapist noticed the other day that my left hand was moving. Usually it just lays dormant in my lap. In fact, I’m moving it right now.” Curiously, thinking this can’t be of any real significance or she would have mentioned it at the onset of the session, I innocently asked her how long it had been since she’d last moved her left hand. When she cited,”At least a couple of decades or more,” I wasn’t sure I’d heard right.
After a couple of thudding heartbeats, I noticed my own hands hovering frozen above my keyboard. In that moment, there was nothing more for me to write. I was a little more than dumb-founded. If she wasn’t “changed,” I sure the heck was … and deeply. Thank you, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, for your magnificent medical system of Heilkunst! I wouldn’t want to serve a patient for a minute without it.
On a daily basis, a patient will cite another label that their allopathic physician has labelled them with. My favourites are the ones that start with the word “Idiopathic” as in “Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.” Idiopathic just means that the cause is unknown or foolish (check the dictionary), so logically, how can you label it Pulmonary Fibrosis based on a set of unknown symptoms if you can’t wholly understand the cause and thusly apply it’s rational cure?
The concept just kind of hangs in the air, literally a folly of ignorance (check the dictionary again), without being anchored to any true underlying aetiology. This is such a shortfall on the true meaning of the word “diagnosis” which means literally “through knowing.” For in Heilkunst knowing the cause enables the prescriber to also know it’s cure with no schizophrenic split in gnosis (true knowledge). The patient wins because for the first time, they really get to understand why they’ve been suffering, where their suffering comes from and how the principles of this medical art will address it.
Knowing the truth takes all the anxiety, “idiocy” and fear out of the “idiopathic” label allowing the patient to relax into their healing now that the full breath of their issues are now known and fully apprehended. As we strip off each layer of their timeline and Miasms (root cause for chronic disease) systematically, the chaos and “idiocy” stops completely, as the cause is eradicated. These become the true “Aha” moments you always cite each month as you grab the reins from us and state, “I get it, I now know why I contracted with that disease state and why I’m now done with it!” This is the difference between a true and false diagnosis.
relating to or denoting any disease or condition that arises spontaneously or for which the cause is unknown.
At the beginning of a new year, we usually find ourselves re-evaluating our life, our goals and the efforts we are making to achieve them. Typically included is the area of health and fitness, and the lifestyle choices which may or may not be supporting us in realizing these goals.
Embedded in the evaluation process is a lot of self-talk (both positive and negative), along with the growing realization that the nature of our thoughts actually influences and plays a role in the creation of our behaviors, experiences, and ultimately, the outcomes in our lives. Bruce Lipton, biologist and author of the popular book The Biology of Belief, has demonstrated that our thoughts actually do have a tangible influence on us at our cellular and genetic levels.
As promising as this discovery is, Lipton also acknowledges the huge challenge we have in terms of having our positive thoughts “stick”, as they are easily overpowered or nullified by any number of negative messages we have stored in our subconscious, which is many times larger than our conscious mind.
Photo by Hartwig HKD “Meditation Transcendence”
I can confirm Lipton’s observations from another perspective. As a Doctor of Medical Heilkunst and Homeopathy, I have witnessed many instances of how an attempt at “positive thinking” or “conscious creation” is eventually undermined by the patient’s subconscious mind, regardless of the quality of intent or effort they have put into their affirmations.
One part of our typical treatment protocol is to use specific homeopathic remedies to address the historical time line of any significant shocks and traumas that have been sustained. These include physical shocks, such as a broken bone, or a significant exposure to a toxin, as well as mental or emotional shocks which had a palpable impact on the life force.
The really cool thing that I get to witness in this process is that as each specific trauma is removed from the patient’s life force (which includes the realm of the subconscious mind), their ability to follow through on their goals and with their affirmations progressively increases, and then starts to gain traction. Every undigested trauma precipitates a corresponding negative state of mind, which gets lodged in the subconscious.
Time again, the message that comes out of this – and which the patient also starts to realize for themselves – is that they do indeed have the capacity to make good use of positive thinking, or the process of conscious creation, and that they don’t need to beat themselves up to get there. There are simple tools and remedies from nature which give us access to this, and assist in the release all our subconscious blockages, setting us more easily towards our goals. And now, what do you think you would find if you could move beyond the map of your subconscious blockages and into your goals?
The modern form of science is built on certain premises and definitions. In general, the way this word is used today implies a study only of the material world, or what can be observed through the senses and intellect (what Anthroposophy would refer to as the ‘nerve-sense system’). The root of the word ‘science’, itself, is very revealing to its usage and meaning, as it shares both the meaning of “to know”, as well the concept of “to cut”, as in to separate, in much the same sense as the verb “to decide”.
This cutting is a function of the intellect, whose primary function is one of separating out different concepts and components from an experience. At this basic level, it is clear that the modern form of science is only half formed, as the separating out into different components is only one side of knowledge, where the putting back together into a meaningful whole is not acknowledged. It is one thing for our digestive organs (teeth, stomach, etc.) to tear apart our food and break it down into its smallest components, but this activity isn’t brought to fruition until the assimilative function completes the process, and integrates the nutrition into where it is needed in our body.
Along these lines, then, a complete activity of science can not only be built on the function of the intellect (breaking things down to their smallest components), but of another function which can put things back together — this is called the ‘gemüt’, or ‘emotional mind’. Without consciously acknowledging and integrating this into science and its methodology, the goal of objectivity in science cannot be obtained, as this activity remains unconscious, and therefore built on presumptions.
What we do in our personal life, in terms of our emotional connections to, and knowledge of the people and the world around us, needs to be properly brought into science in a way which completes this total process of knowing. It is not only individuals with a high IQ who are needed in science, but also those with a high EQ (emotional quotient), who have a strong connection to this deeper form of knowing things in their gut. This is why Heilkunst is both an ‘art’ and a ‘science’, and acknowledges both forms of knowing as part of its method of diagnosis and treatment.
Taking my explorations of yesterday’s blog on accessing the super-sensible realm one step further, I have organized a meditation on Dr. Reich’s concept of “organ sensations”, by arranging a series of excerpts from his texts interspersed with my own comments below. The concept of “organ sensations” forms the grounded, biological counterpart to the more psychic or spiritual starting point of yesterday’s discussion.
This insight into the “unity of the organism” had a biological basis, but it also reached into the supersensible realm, for the unitary functioning of the organs led to the ability to know things beyond the sensory world of the intellect. Reich would later develop this consciously into his description of orgonotic functionalism, but he states the basis for this in the so-called “sixth sense” that emerges with orgastic potency: …the organ sensation or ‘orgonotic sensation’ is a true SIXTH SENSE. Besides the abilities to see, hear, smell, taste, touch, there existed unmistakably in healthy individuals a sense of organ functions, an ORGONOTIC SENSE, as it were, which was completely lacking or was disturbed in biopathies.
This very fundamental aspect of our healthy peception is susceptible to being deformed in a variety of ways:
In the interest of scientific objectivity, we kill what is alive before making any statements about it. The result is necessarily a mechanistic, machine-like image of life, from which life’s most essential quality, its specific aliveness, is missing—an aliveness uncomfortably reminiscent of the intense organ sensations experienced in childhood.
The mind-body connection, and how it is a basis for our ability to perceive the world objectively, is dependent on our overall state of health, as Reich illustrates above. The fundamental problem in science of “belief” is alluded to here, which keeps so-called scientists from being able to see the world objectively, as in Reich’s example of the basis of the mechanistic worldview. This is also expressed here:
But certainly it is clear that the emotional structure of the natural scientist will color his observations and thinking and that therefore organ sensation is a tool of his work. This is just as true for me as for anyone else working with orgonotic natural functions.
When I was a first year student of Heilkunst, I was very intrigued with the concept of accessing the “super-sensible” realm. The everyday or “normal” way of thinking and perceiving is not enough to produce a deep diagnosis and then treatment of the root of disease, which lays in this super-sensible realm. At this time, I only understand this concept in an intellectual way, but had no idea how I would access this realm, or if, in fact, it was accessible to me.
I kept this concept at the back of my mind throughout my studies, and was always looking for clues as to how I would be able to access it. The title of the business book “selling the invisible” really captured my imagination, not only for the literal purpose of this book, but for my ongoing project of figuring out how I would be able to access the super-sensible.
Part of disease diagnosis in Heilkunst involves discerning the “state of mind” underlying the outward, visible expression of the disease, such as symptoms and sensations. The “state of mind” actually exists in the super-sensible realm, as you cannot see it with your usual 5 senses, but nevertheless, it is discernible. Everyone has had the experience of being close with someone, and knowing what they are thinking or feeling about a situation before they have said a word about it. This is super-sensible knowledge.
One of the first practical areas a Heilkunst student studies is how to diagnosis the six different genotypes (personality types), which ultimately can be discerned through the state of mind, or super-sensible essence. Getting to know these six genotypes becomes very much like those individuals who you are very close to, and could recognize in a crowd without any effort. This first experience with the genotypes is then progressively expanded out to other dimensions of disease diagnosis within the Heilkunst system.
Classical homeopathy does not work at this super-sensible level (other than accidentally and unconsciously). They, like most other treatment modalities, have limited their work to the realm of the 5 senses, and the “computer” of our brain which our mind has been reduced to. Any sense of knowing which comes from beyond this empirical level is either shrugged off, or reluctantly admitted into the patient’s case taking.
The book “You Are Your Instrument” includes a description of an exercise where a musician performed a given piece of music, but with the specific focus in their mind on the taste and smell of lemons. Although this had not been explained to the audience, they did report that they experienced the taste and smell of lemons while hearing the piece! This is another illustration of the super-sensible realm, where our experience of a piece of music is not simply hearing the given pitches (high or low) in a given sequence, but a discernment of the underlying state of mind projected from the musician and/or composer.
Through the course of my studies as well as Heilkunst treatment, these faculties progressively opened up within me. I’ve written before about my intuitive experience (which I had to learn from the hard way) of the voice in my head at the bulk food store asking me “why don’t you wear a glove?”. Likewise, there was another experience early in my days as a student, where I had just recently cleared the first round of the ‘syphilis miasm’ as part of my own treatment, and I had a very palpable experience at a book store of suddenly recoiling from another person who I felt a very strong syphilis energy from. This was the first time that I recognized a specific disease in someone from the objective feeling, rather than any intellectual analysis of them.
Likewise, in many different ways, patients of Heilkunst come to “know” things in a way that they didn’t before, or if they did, they couldn’t explain it very well. One of the deepest roots of disease, in this sense, is the degree to which we are “ignorant”, or, in other words, but off from this realm of super-sensible knowing. The directive to “know thyself” takes on a whole new meaning when we look at disease and knowledge from this point of view. Which were your first doorways into the super-sensible realm?
“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.”
-Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher (1788 – 1860)
A fascinating moment in the history of Heilkunst and the study of life energy was when Wilhelm Reich and Albert Einstein engaged in a correspondence and a couple of meetings to discuss Reich’s initial discovery of a source of life energy, which he called ‘orgone’. Einstein was initially quite enthusiastic about Reich’s experiment, and took some of his equipment home to repeat the experiment himself. He initially corroborated Reich’s findings, but later went back and provided a flimsy rebuttal on purely mechanistic grounds. There are complexities to this incident that go beyond the pure scientific questions posed here, but I will limit my scope here to the scientific questions.
Reich’s simple experimental set-up was to demonstrate that cosmic orgone energy could generate a rise in temperature without any other obvious sources of heat present. The implications of this discovery was, in Einstein’s words, “a bomb in physics”. Even quantum physics ultimately hits the same dead end as classical (or Newtonian) physics which is that it is constrained by the same mental structures as a mechanistic view of the world.
This dead end exists due to the dead end of the character structure of most physicists, including Einstein. Despite his highly celebrated brilliance, he was unable to hold the charge of the implications of Reich’s experiment, which would not only be a “bomb in physics”, but a complete revolution to our fundamental world view. This event with Einstein troubled Reich for a long time, and he referred to it as “the riddle”. He came to understand later that it was Einstein’s character structure which limited him from being able to accept the findings which were demonstrated before his own eyes, and likewise, what keeps anyone from simply accepting a self-evident truth, rather than attacking it as is often witnessed in different realms.
What Reich called “the emotional plague reaction” describes this type of irrational behaviour, where the nature of accepting a truth means that a person needs to be able to go through a living, expansive process, as part of taking in the new truth. Due to the armoured structure of most people, a full expansion is actually painful, and so in defense they turn and attack the object which inspired this expansion in the first place — “shooting the messenger”, as it were. I’m sure you can come up with any number of examples from your own experience (either witnessing yourself, or those around you), of getting really hot under the collar at some new fact or truth. Avoiding the pain of the expansion can take on many forms, and defensive patterns, and part of the true goal of health is to eliminate this as much as possible, so as to be able to take in life and its truths to the fullest extent possible.
